“Wild times, yo!”, Bilta replies as he grabs a handful of palomitas, “that’s the only way that I can describe that kickass vacation!”

“Wild times, yo!”, Bilta replies as he grabs a handful of palomitas, “that’s the only way that I can describe that kickass vacation!”

“Did you check out the velociraptor fossil?”, I reply as I reach over and grab a handful of palomitas.

I pour hot sauce on them; I shove them in my mouth; this shit’s fucking delicious, yo.

“So like”, I continue speaking as I settle more into the digitalsofa in Bilta’s studio apartment, “what happened? You related?”

“Nah”, he replies as he turns his head to the digitalTV, “false alarm–it was just some random velociraptor.  Anyways–it was a fun excursion.  You know–I don’t get out of the house enough.  I realized that when I was there–I’m not really enjoying life.  I am very successful, by velociraptor standards, but still–I’m not really living the life that I could.  Instead–I just kinda go with things.  You know–I bet that there is a lot of other stuff that I could be doing to pass my time.”

“Don’t call it passing time”, I respond as I turn my head to the TV, “say–living.  Say like, `there’s a lot of other ways that I could live, yo’.  Try to find something that you can do regularly, like everyday, and keep sharp.  Try to find something that you can improve at–something that captures your mind and your interest.  It’s easy to take a vacation every now and then–but can you be perpetually here?  Like–can you stay here?”

“Where–in my apartment?”

“Oh-my-God no!”, I reply as I shake my head, “I don’t want to see you that much–what I mean is that you can just stay in your life.  Like–stay focused.  Stay aware.  Stay badass.”

“I’m always badass!”, Bilta replies as he grabs another handful of palomitas.

“Wishes and fishes start to stink after three days”, I reply as I roll my eyes, “but anyways… just try to build habits that engage you with your current life.  Like, stay here.”

“In my apartment?”

“We just had this discussion, Bilta”, I reply as I roll my eyes, “listen to music–take hikes; ride a bike on errands; do something everyday that you enjoy for money.”

“I like eating, yo.”

“That doesn’t really make sense”, I reply as I shrug, “like… how would you make money off that?”

“You could pay me to eat?”

“Hmm…”, I respond as I turn my head to Bilta, “that’s an awkward way to say things–but maybe you can start learning to cook? Make food for your friends?”

“What do you call that as work?”

“Umm… a restaurant, idiot.”

“Why do you say such harsh things, yo?”

“Why are you an idiot?”

“I’m a velociraptor.”

“Yeah”, I reply as I turn my head back to the TV, “his point is meet with the true contradiction of shallow realities.”

“What’s that mean?”

“Some shit I read in a book, once.”

“What was it called?”

“The book?”, I roll my eyes and shrug, “it was called Stop Asking Dumb Questions And Maybe You’ll Get Some Better Answers.”

“Is that a real book, yo?”

“You know”, I reply as I turn my head to look out the window; four hummingbirds, “it probably is–everyone and their mother has a book.”

“Do you?”

“Nope.”
